I like to make up words and phrases. Here's a list of some of them and what they mean:
Populist fundraising - getting small donations from lots of people (it's best to conduct populist fundraising in political campaigns— not to support your mission)
Fundraising unicorns - things fundraisers chase that provide little or no value (Like neat new technologies, branding efforts or "awareness campaigns")
One-legged fundraisers - you, because you are probably facing insurmountable challenges everyday (I call folks like you one-legged fundraisers because you're job requires you to kick a lot of ass with only one leg)
Solutionists - my staff (We don't have sales people and we don't pay commissions. Instead my staff are required to seek solutions that provide tremendous value for our clients. Commission programs get in the way of doing that well.)
Engagement facilitators - you, the fundraiser (I prefer this title compared with something like Director of Advancement.)
Engagement fundraising - see my entire diatribe on that here
